We are enjoying a beautiful spring in Berlin - while warm weather may be normal at this time of year for you, we can't always count on it! We are especially conscious of experiencing Berlin right now, as we will be moving in Sept. Jim is now serving as Director of Field Ministries for CBF, and needs to do that job from Atlanta. I will continue to work as coordinator for our work in Europe, N. Africa and the Mid-east, but will be doing it from Atlanta. After 27 years in Europe, this is a huge change for us.

But much more is happening besides thinking about a move! Here is a look into what our field personnel in this area have been involved in:

In April, a young adult "celebration" - several evenings of evangelistic services - was held in Beirut, Lebanon. The celebrations have been taking place here for several years, adding on a special one for young adults recently. C. Boulos organizes these. This year Bill White from University Baptist Church in Miami preached. There was a great response and 70 people recorded their decision to follow Christ.

In Turkey, the annual Southeast Women's conference just finished. This is for Christian women of the country. More women than ever participated and the program included testimony from the wives of the Christians who were murdered last year. There is still a lot of persecution there, so please pray.

IBTS in Prague celebrates graduation May 30. Among the MTh graduates is Asatur Nahapetyan, the general secretary of the Armenian Baptist Union. You may not know much about Armenia, but the Baptist churches are active and growing! It's exciting to experience leaders like this getting a good theological education, and they really appreciate the opportunity for the education and for being a part of the larger Baptist world. It's rewarding to us to know that CBF helped in this education.

Glen and Clista Adkins are working with a boarding school for Roma children in Pec, Hungary. Glen started a choir last year. The students love it, and he will be taking the choir to sing at the BWA Youth Conference in Leipzig this summer. A Latino youth group from Virginia will be traveling with them. Pray that the contact with the youth group and the experience at the congress will lead to spiritual decisions among these underprivileged students.

Personally, we were able to attend our son's graduation from Campbell University this month. He will visit Berlin a few days in June to sort through his things, and will then be working in radio in Raleigh.

May God continue to bless your work in Arkansas,

Becky and Jim Smith
