Student.Go interns come to Helena-West Helena
Student.Go - a program of CBF Global Missions - provides opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to serve among and advocate for the most neglected people in our world. Positions include a wide variety of locations and unique types of ministry and are intended to provide students with hands-on missions experience. Students serve for a summer or a semester alongside CBF Global Missions field personnel and ministry partners in locations around the globe. Not only do the students gain invaluable experience in cross-cultural service, they also provide crucial assistance to the ministries with which they work. Through these experiences, Student.Go strives to help students reach beyond their culture, beyond their comfort zones, and beyond themselves to be the presence of Christ in the world.
Student.Go is open to undergraduate and graduate students 18 years of age and older. Applicants must have completed at least one semester of college before their term of service begins. (There is no upper age limit! All ages of undergrad and graduate students are welcome!)
Three Student.Go students have come to work in Helena-West Helena as part of Together for Hope Arkansas.

Amy Gragert "I lived most of my life in Missouri and started college at Southeast Missouri State University this past year. There, I had my first encounter with CBF as one of the ministries I decided to check was affiliated with them. I learned a lot about CBF from them and heard a few stories about Student.Go as a couple of them had done it in summers past. I thought it was a cool program, but never thought it was something I would do myself. Well, right as my freshman year was ending in May, Dr. Gentry, who is the leader of the CBF group there, told me that the Helena program had just lost most of their interns and needed help if I was willing to go. There wasn't much time to decide, but I prayed about the decision and found myself willing to go. This is my first real summer as a college student and I couldn't be happier with what I decided to do with it." |

Dixie DuRant "My name is Dixie Gloria Bell DuRant and I am from Wedgefield, South Carolina. I will be a senior at Clemson University in the fall. My major is sociology and I am a psychology minor. Every summer I have been in college I have gone home to work and take summer classes. That was good because it helped me get ahead in school but I decided that this was my last summer as a college student so I wanted to do something different than I had ever done. I decided late one night to email the director of Cooperative Student Fellowship at Clemson University where I am involved. He emailed me back immediately and told me about Student.Go. I went straight to the website and filled out the application so I could get it in. I didn't know anything about it or what I would be doing but I knew it would be worth a try. I jumped at the chance to go and work with Together for Hope. I can't imagine there being anywhere else I would have enjoyed more. It has already been a wonderful experience and in just a few weeks it has changed my life forever. I am so thankful to have gotten this opportunity. Everything always works out for the best!" |
