Lakeshore Drive celebrates 50 years

Lakeshore Drive Baptist Church in Little Rock celebrated its 50th anniversary Saturday, June 6. Rev. Dickie Boyles serves as pastor. Over 75 present and former members and guests attended the worship service and luncheon. Rev. Shane McNary, CBF missionary in Slovakia, preached the message. Rev. Jerry Wilcox, pastor from 1971-85 attended along with former interim pastor, Rev. Ed McDonald, and former interim music minister, Rev. Carolyn Staley.

LSDBC began in January 1959 as the University Baptist Church when a group of members from Broadmoor Baptist Chuch were dismissed by the racist pastor. UBC became Lakeshore Drive in 1970 with a progressive ministry in the community. Recently the church began sharing its campus with a new church start, New Millennium Church, whose pastor is Rev. Wendell Griffen.
