The 2009 CBF Arkansas Spring Conference was held on Friday, April 24th - Saturday, April 25th at Second Baptist Church in Little Rock. It was a wonderful time of listening, learning, and growing.
Conference Attendees
At least 15 churches were represented at the Spring Conference. For Brian McLaren's 4-hour workshop, we had over 80 folks in attendance from a variety of denominations and people groups. On Friday night, over 300 attended. For the Saturday morning workshops, 75 people attended.

Leadership in the Conference
Saturday morning proved to be a time of interesting conversation and engaging presentations. A variety of workshops were available to conference attendees. Dr. Raouf Halaby of Arkadelphia gave a presentation on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; Dr. Chester Thompson, current CBFAR moderator, Charlie Cole Chaffin, past-past CBFAR moderator, and Dr. Kevin Heifner, past CBFAR moderator, gave a presentation on CBF & CBFAR's future as part of the results from the 2008 Memphis General Assembly; Dr. Otto Loewer of Fayetteville led a discussion about change and the emerging chaos; and Dr. David Johnson of Mountain Home presented a preview of this year's Leadership Summit at First Baptist Church Mountain Home.

Dr. Kevin Heifner of Calvary Baptist Church, also known affectionately as our "Supreme Commander", led his last business session as moderator on Saturday. Dr. Chester Thompson led Communion and closed the meeting with beautiful words as our new Moderator. We're looking forward to his leadership in 2009 and 2010! Rev. Carolyn Staley of Pulaski Heights Baptist Church was confirmed as Moderator-Elect.
Nine new Coordinating Council members were confirmed as part of the business session as well: Rev. Andrew Gibson, pastor, Elaine; Christy Holland, Little Rock; David McCollum, Little Rock; Dr. Horace Green, Pine Bluff; Rev. Jim Bryant, pastor, Harrison; Dr. Raouf Halaby, Arkadelphia; Shannon Holman, Lonoke; Rev. Todd Bunch, Little Rock; and Rev. Wendell Griffen, Little Rock.
Thanks to Second Baptist Church for hosting the conference this year, and thanks to all who were able to come! To God be the glory for this wonderful weekend! We look forward to next year's conference at Pulaski Heights Baptist Church.
