You've Got the Time: A New Testament Listening Experience

I want to invite you to participate in an opportunity to listen to the New Testament for 28 minutes per day for 40 days. You can begin this journey on Ash Wednesday, February 17 through Easter Sunday, or during another 40 day period of your choosing during 2010. You can join CBF partner churches and friends across our state, nation and around the world in this spiritual experience.

The well-known audio Bible ministry Faith Comes By Hearing and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship are partnering to make this spiritual growth experience possible.
If your church is participating, you may participate through your church. If you church is not participating, then our office will send you a FREE MP3 disc that you can use to listen to this dramatic reading of the New Testament. Please email Ray Higgins or call our office 501.223.8586 to order your MP3 disc. There is an MP3 disc for adults and a different MP3 disc for children. Please let us know the number of each you would like.
We recommend that you participate in this experience during the season of Lent 2010. Lent is the season in the Christian year when Christians observe the 40 days before Easter Sunday. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 17. So you would begin listening to the first day's reading on February 17 (listening on Monday-Saturdays, not Sunday) and complete the listening on Easter Sunday, April 4.
You will find the 40 day schedule for listening to the New Testament on your MP3 disc. MP3s can be played on computers with a CD and/or DVD drive, home DVD players, portable MP3 players available at your local discount store, and CD players labeled "MP3 compatible."
If you cannot use an MP3 disc, you may purchase the 40 Day New Testament on a Bible stick ($20) which is powered by one AAA battery, or purchase the CD version -- 15CDs and a case for $20. You will need to do this through Faith Comes By Hearing. Either go to their website or call 1-800-545-6552 to order these items. To get the $20 price you need to ask for the congregation price and may need to identify yourself with CBF of Arkansas.

We are asking that each church that participates and each individual/family who participate give an offering during the 40 day listening experience. You determine the amount. The offering collected from our CBF partner churches and friends will go to create an audio Bible in the heart language of a people group that CBF field personnel/missionaries live among. CBF has identified 6 people groups without a Bible in their heart language. It costs over $20,000 to create a Bible in a heart language. Send your offering to the CBFAR office (1504 Dr. Martin Luther King Drive, Little Rock, AR 72202) and we will forward your offering to Faith Comes By Hearing.
I hope you will participate in this 40 day New Testament listening experience. Many of us have read the New Testament but have not heard it read aloud in a dramatic reading. I am confident that the Holy Spirit will use this experience in your life in spiritually powerful ways.
